Lantern Crossing is a vivid, jubilant orange that radiates with the rich, saturated warmth of a paper lantern at dusk, its edges deepening into burgundy as the ink pools and dries. Wine shimmer particles catch the light with a warm, rosy-gold glow that complements the orange base beautifully, adding a layer of festive luminosity to every stroke. Part of Ferris Wheel Press's FerriTales: Bestiary Series, this is an ink that carries the atmosphere of autumn evenings, candlelit processions, and the threshold between the known and the unknown.

Ink Characteristics

Base Colour
A vivid, glowy warm orange — deeply saturated and slightly red-leaning, with the luminous quality of a lantern seen through paper. Rich and celebratory on the page, it commands attention without veering into red or yellow.

Shimmer
Wine shimmer that imparts a warm rosy-gold and red-wine lustre across the ink's surface. The shimmer complements the orange base with depth and warmth rather than contrast, creating a cohesive, festive glow. Shake well before use; medium to broad nibs and dip pens will express the shimmer most vividly.

Shading
High, dramatic shading — one of this ink's most distinctive qualities. Stroke edges and pooling areas deepen into rich burgundy and wine tones, creating striking contrast against the vivid orange base. Most pronounced on broader nibs, dip pens, and fountain pen-friendly papers.

Sheen
Low to moderate — the wine shimmer contributes additional warmth and lustre, but this ink leads with shimmer and shading rather than a distinct sheen layer.

Ink Properties

Property

Detail

Ink Type

Dye-based (water-based) with wine shimmer particles

Waterproofness

Low

Flow

Moderate

Recommended Nib

Medium to broad; dip pen also suitable

Paper Note

Best on fountain pen-friendly papers; shading and shimmer most visible on broader nibs

Available Sizes

10 ml

Bottle

10 ml ink pot

Series

FerriTales: Bestiary

Brand

Ferris Wheel Press

About FerriTales: Bestiary

The Bestiary Series is part of Ferris Wheel Press's FerriTales universe — a storytelling ink collection inspired by mythical creatures, legendary beasts, and the folklore that surrounds them.
