Brown ink has a reputation problem — too often it reads as either washed-out and forgettable, or so light it barely qualifies as brown at all. Winter Wood has no such issue. This is a genuinely deep, coal-dark brown that can look almost black in a large swab, yet still holds its warmth and character in ordinary handwriting.

Dominant Industry Standard 110 Winter Wood is a 25ml fountain pen ink from the Standard Series, made in small batches at Dominant Industry's studio in Paju, South Korea. The Colour

Base Tone

Winter Wood is a deep, warm coal brown — dark enough to read as brown-black in heavier applications, and closer to true black in large swatches on papers like Tomoe River. It's a colour that suits professional settings and formal correspondence just as well as daily journaling, without ever tipping into looking like plain black ink.

Shading

Winter Wood shows low shading, though it becomes more visible on certain premium papers, where subtle tonal variation appears within a stroke.

Sheen

At its darkest, most saturated points, Winter Wood reveals a low black sheen — a subtle glint rather than a dramatic effect, adding just enough depth to keep large swabs and pooled ink from looking flat.

Shimmer

Winter Wood has no shimmer. As a Standard Series ink, its character comes entirely from tone, shading, and sheen rather than added sparkle.
