The Opus 88 Mini Pocket "Cheer Kitty" is proof that a pocket-sized pen doesn't have to sacrifice character. Cast in translucent red acrylic with polished silver trim, the cap is finished with a Japanese-designed illustration of a very contented cat — wine glass in one paw, bottle in the other — raising a toast to good writing. It's a small pen with a big personality, and one of the few fountain pens genuinely small enough to disappear into a jacket pocket or pencil case.

Design & Construction

The Mini Pocket's proportions are built for portability first. Capped, the pen measures approximately 117.3 mm; the body alone is approximately 107.7 mm, with the cap adding approximately 49.5 mm when posted. Body diameter is approximately 14.5 mm, with a grip diameter of approximately 11.7 mm — slim enough for a genuinely pocketable pen, while still comfortable for note-taking and journaling sessions. Weight is approximately 24 g. The cap is screw-on, with a polished chrome clip.

Eyedropper Filling System & Shut-Off Valve

Despite its small size, the Mini Pocket holds a genuinely generous 1.5 ml of ink through a Japanese-style eyedropper system with an integrated shut-off valve. To fill, unscrew the grip section, use the included glass eyedropper to draw ink, deposit it into the barrel, and reassemble. Before writing, unscrew the blind cap at the end of the barrel to release the internal valve and open ink flow to the nib; screw it closed again for travel, and the valve seals the reservoir against leaks — reassuring for a pen that's meant to live in a bag or a pocket.
