A Dream, Carried in Your Pocket
The Opus 88 Mini Pocket Flying Rabbit is a collaboration between Opus 88 and illustrator Soupy Tang, wrapping her signature dreamlike artwork — a girl riding a flying rabbit through the sky — around a translucent blue-green acrylic body. The illustration continues from the cap onto the barrel itself, so the scene feels continuous rather than printed on in pieces. It's a small pen with a genuinely imaginative story behind it, made for collectors of Soupy Tang's work as much as for fountain pen enthusiasts.
Design & Construction
The Mini Pocket's proportions are built for portability first: capped, the pen measures approximately 117.3 mm; the body alone is approximately 107.7 mm, with the cap adding approximately 49.5 mm. Body diameter is approximately 14.5 mm, cap diameter approximately 14.7 mm, and grip diameter approximately 11.7 mm — small enough to disappear into a pocket or pencil case, while still comfortable to write with. The screw-on cap can be posted to extend the pen's length for longer writing sessions, and silver-toned metal accents complete the design.
The pen ships in an Opus 88 gift box with a glass eyedropper pipette included for filling.
Eyedropper Filling System & Shut-Off Valve
Despite its compact size, the Flying Rabbit holds a generous 1.5 ml of ink through a Japanese-style eyedropper system with an integrated shut-off valve. To fill, unscrew the grip section, use the included glass eyedropper to draw ink, and deposit it into the barrel until about 80–90% full — leaving room for air pressure helps prevent leaks. Before writing, unscrew the blind cap slightly to release the internal shut-off valve and allow ink to flow to the nib; retighten it before travel to seal the ink chamber, which is reassuring for a pen that's likely to live in a bag or a pocket.
