The Opus 88 Mini Pocket Stripe pairs a cool, translucent blue acrylic body with a cap that breaks into a playful mosaic of color — blues, purples, and teals arranged in an irregular, pixel-like pattern that catches the eye without overwhelming it. It’s a small pen with real character, built for anyone who wants their everyday carry to feel a little less ordinary.

Design & Construction

The Mini Pocket’s proportions are built for portability first: capped, the pen measures approximately 117 mm (4.7"); uncapped, approximately 107 mm (4.3"); and posted, approximately 140 mm (5.5"). Grip diameter is approximately 11 mm, body diameter approximately 15 mm, and weight approximately 24–26 g — small enough to disappear into a pocket or pencil case, while still comfortable to write with. A polished chrome clip completes the design, and the screw-on cap can be posted for a longer writing length.

The pen ships in an Opus 88 gift box with a glass eyedropper pipette included for filling.

Eyedropper Filling System & Shut-Off Valve

Despite its compact size, the Stripe holds a generous volume of ink through a Japanese-style eyedropper system with an integrated shut-off valve, using the full barrel as a reservoir — approximately 1.5 ml of capacity. To fill, unscrew the grip section, use the included glass eyedropper to draw ink, and deposit it into the barrel — leaving a little room for air pressure helps prevent leaks. Before writing, unscrew the blind cap at the end of the barrel to release the internal shut-off mechanism and allow ink to flow to the nib; retighten it before travel to seal the ink chamber, reassuring for a pen that’s likely to live in a bag or a pocket.

The Stripe is fitted with a #5 JoWo stainless steel nib, available in:

• Extra Fine (EF) — a precise, controlled line for small handwriting
• Fine (F) — the most versatile everyday width
• Medium (M) — broader and wetter, good for shading inks
• Broad (B) — a bold, generous line
• 1.4 mm Stub — an italic-style grind adding crisp line variation to every stroke
