The Opus 88 Mini Pocket Summer Strike bottles up a coastal getaway in miniature: a translucent acrylic cap and barrel wrapped in a whimsical beach scene — golden sand, flip-flops, colorful umbrellas, sunglasses, and boats — the kind of illustration that makes journaling by the shore feel like the natural thing to do, wherever you actually are. It's a limited-edition release built for anyone who wants a little seasonal joy in their everyday carry.

Design & Construction

The Mini Pocket's proportions are built for portability first: capped, the pen measures approximately 117.3 mm; the body alone is approximately 107.7 mm, with the cap adding approximately 49.5 mm. Body diameter is approximately 14.5 mm, cap diameter approximately 14.7 mm, and grip diameter approximately 11.7 mm — small enough to disappear into a pocket or pencil case, while still comfortable to write with. Weight is approximately 24 g. The screw-on cap is not designed to post securely for extended writing, and a chrome-plated clip completes the design.

The pen ships in an Opus 88 gift box with a glass eyedropper pipette included for filling.

Eyedropper Filling System & Shut-Off Valve

Despite its compact size, the Summer Strike holds a generous 1.5 ml of ink through a Japanese-style eyedropper system with an integrated shut-off valve. To fill, unscrew the grip section, use the included glass eyedropper to draw ink, and deposit it into the barrel — leaving a little room for air pressure helps prevent leaks. Before writing, unscrew the blind cap at the end of the barrel to release the internal shut-off mechanism and allow ink to flow to the nib; retighten it before travel to seal the ink chamber, reassuring for a pen that's likely to live in a beach bag or a pocket.

The Summer Strike is fitted with a #5 JoWo stainless steel nib, available in:

• Extra Fine (EF) — a precise, controlled line for small handwriting
• Fine (F) — the most versatile everyday width
• Medium (M) — broader and wetter, good for shading inks
• Broad (B) — a bold, generous line
• 1.4 mm Stub — an italic-style grind adding crisp line variation to every stroke
