A transit map with no city name attached to it

Open most souvenir notebooks and the cover tells you exactly where it's from — a skyline, a landmark, a label. This one doesn't. The cover reproduces an aged, sepia-toned transit map crowded with intersecting lines and station dots, but nothing on it names the city. It reads as "a metro system" in the abstract rather than "this specific metro system," which is part of why it works as a notebook cover rather than a piece of tourist merchandise — it suggests movement and navigation without pinning itself to one place.

An easy gift, on purpose

Because the cover carries no date, no year, and no single city's identity, it sidesteps the two things that usually make notebooks feel wrong as gifts: looking dated within a year, or feeling tied to somewhere the recipient has no connection to. Sixty pages of blank New Chiffon Cream paper, around 80g/m², sit behind the map cover — no lines, no grid, no dots. Left open like this, it works equally well as a sketchbook, a journal, or a place to paste in ticket stubs and other paper ephemera from actual travel, which fits the transit theme on the cover more literally than a ruled page would.

Construction, same as the rest of the line

The wax-treated cover ages the way every RO-BIKI cover does — creasing, scuffing, gradually darkening — which on a map graphic tends to look like a well-used paper map that's been folded and unfolded for years. The binding is thread-stitched, strong enough to survive being opened flat repeatedly (Yamamoto rates it to a full 360° fold-back) without pages loosening. At 91 × 210mm, it fits the RO-BIKI Canvas Cover or a regular-size Traveler's Notebook.
