Where the Metro Map cover in this same series shows straight transit lines and station dots, this one is built from something harder to fake: elevation contour lines, the kind that circle around hills and valleys on an actual survey map, layered with faded place names in a script that reads as somewhere in the Middle East or Central Asia without confirming exactly where. It has the specific, slightly technical look of a map made for people who needed to know the terrain, not just find their way between two points — closer to something a hiker or a surveyor would carry than a tourist.

A topo map earns its density from real data — elevation changes, ridgelines, drainage patterns — which gives it a texture that doesn't come from decorative line work.
