Colorverse: Colorizing the Universe from Seoul
Some ink brands chase trends. Colorverse chases the cosmos. Founded in Seoul, South Korea, by a team of makers with deep formulation expertise, Colorverse began with a single, quietly ambitious idea: that the wonder of the universe — its light, its physics, its vast and humbling scale — could be captured in a bottle of fountain pen ink.
Their motto says it simply: Colorize Your Universe.
The Concept Behind the Colour
Every Colorverse release is built around a theme rather than a colour trend. Spaceward, the brand's debut series, brought together twelve colours — each a stable, carefully blended expression of a unique personality drawn from deep space. It was followed by Astrophysics, an eight-colour series charged with creative energy , and then Multiverse, which introduced six ink sets built on concepts of harmony and symmetry. Since then, the series have continued to expand: The Red Planet drew from Mars science missions, Eye on the Universe paid tribute to the Hubble Space Telescope, and the Trailblazer in Space series honoured pioneers of spaceflight. Special and limited editions, including a Korea Special Series, turn inward — drawing on Korean landscapes, culture, and history to produce colours that feel both globally resonant and distinctly rooted in place.
Each colour in the Colorverse catalogue carries a number, a name, and a story. Collecting them is less like stocking a supply and more like building a library.
Ink Worth Writing With
The storytelling would mean little if the ink itself fell short. Colorverse takes formulation seriously. The ink is created by a group of makers with years of knowhow, treated for hydration and antibacterial properties so it does not dry or deteriorate easily in a pen, and designed to maintain an optimal pH of 7–8. Plant-origin natural materials are used throughout — colorants and solvents alike — resulting in inks that are vivid, highly pure, and safe for use in all fountain pens. The ink flows smoothly across a broad range of nibs and dries at a pace that suits everyday writing without ghosting through quality paper.
Most inks in the main series exhibit gentle to moderate shading, rewarding writers who use broader or wetter nibs. Select offerings in the Glistening line add fine shimmer particles for a more luminous effect on the page.
The Signature Two-Bottle Set
The Spaceward series — and many that followed — packages each colour as a two-bottle set: a 65 ml bottle sized for desk use and a 15 ml bottle suited for travel or sharing. The bottles feature distinctive teardrop-shaped bases and come nestled in a constellation-decorated box, with accessories including stickers and a bookmark — each illustrated to match the ink's name and theme. It is one of the more thoughtful unboxing experiences in the fountain pen world, and the bottles display beautifully on a shelf.
Single-format bottles and mini sizes are also available across select lines, making it easy to sample before committing.
